On Saturday, Feb. 11, ESU’s Women’s Basketball team beat the West Chester University Golden Rams 74-61 at Hollinger Field House in West Chester.

The win snapped West Chester’s 11-game home winning streak against ESU.

Unfortunately for the Golden Rams, their star player junior Madison Torresin was injured early in the first quarter and did not return to the game.

The Warriors took advantage of West Chester’s misfortune and raced out to a 22-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Golden Rams battled back and outscored the Warriors 14-8 in the second quarter, but ESU led West Chester 30-25 at halftime.

ESU head coach Diane Decker must have given quite a fiery halftime speech because junior guard Imani Brown came out of the locker room on fire.

Brown erupted for 17 points in the third quarter including five three-point baskets.

Brown’s hot shooting effectively put the game out of reach. ESU led West Chester 54-35 at the end of the third quarter.

Nevertheless, West Chester cut ESU’s lead down to 11 with just over four minutes left in the game. That led to an ESU timeout, but that was as close as the
Golden Rams would get as ESU would win the game 74-61.

Brown led all scorers with 29 points. Senior forward Allison Howard had 15 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore guard Noelle Powell chipped in with 10 points.

The Warriors remain in the second place in the PSAC East. The second-place team will get an opening round bye in the postseason PSAC Tournament and host a
quarterfinal game.

ESU (15-7, 11-7) will return to Koehler Fieldhouse to play Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day.
