Sophomore Aspen Gaita led ESU’s Track and Field team at Kutztown’s Last Chance Meet at Kutztown University’s O’Pake Fieldhouse.

Gaita won the 55m hurdles in a school record-breaking time of 7.99 seconds. This is the fourth time this season that she has set a new ESU record.

Gaita also cleared 5-5 1/4 in the high jump to win the event.

On Tuesday, Gaita was named the PSAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Sophomore Patrick Monahan continued his outstanding season by winning the 55m dash in 6.50 seconds and the 200m dash in 23.14 seconds.

The hurdling duo of senior Steve Morgan and junior Christian Castro claimed the top two spots in the 55m hurdles with times of 7.60 seconds and 7.82 seconds respectively.

The Stroud Courier alumna Kelley Anne Stuetz ran the 55m hurdles in a season-best time of 8.89 seconds.

In the field events, freshman Alexis Schuldes took second in the shot put, and freshman Me’Saj Closs finished fifth in the weight throw.

Next up for the Warriors is the PSAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 25-26 at Edinboro University.
