Each week a Disc Jockey from East Stroudsburg University’s radio station, 90.3 WESS FM, is selected as DJ of the week for their exceptional performance and hard work on the air.

This week’s DJ of the Week is Jack Smith for his radio show Overtime Sports. Smith is from Basking Ridge, N.J. He is currently a sophomore majoring in Communication and minoring in Business at East Stroudsburg University.

The inspiration for his show stems from Smith’s innate love for sports where, from a young age he always gravitated towards athletics.

As he grew older he developed an appreciation for sports discussion talking about athletics with his friends and family.

Smith said “I’ve had a love for sports since I was young and I have always loved talking about sports with family and friends.” Joining WESS has offered him a format to talk about sports with a larger audience.

Overtime Sports as originally constructed with the intent for two hosts, but after Smith’s co-host left WESS he took on the show and made it completely his own.

Smith’s favorite aspect about WESS is the open and diverse format established there allowing him the liberty to construct a program around the topics he is passionate about. He also enjoys the welcoming and fun atmosphere of the station.

“I enjoy that I have the freedom to talk about whatever I want on my show, and the family feeling of the station makes it even better” Smith said.

His aspirations for the future are to pursue a career in the realm of sports broadcasting striving to be a sports analyst; someone who provides expertise on the sport at hand before, during, or after the game/match.

Listeners can catch Jack Smith’s show, Overtime Sports, Mondays at 8 pm on 90.3 WESS via the radio, or they can stream WESS over the web at tunein.com/radio/WESS.
