ESU’s Fantastic Four, made up of junior midfielder Chessie Rahmer, sophomore attack Brooke Fritz, senior midfielder Emily Fitzsimmons and freshman Hana Cicerelle, combined to score 14 goals and powered ESU’s Women’s Lacrosse team past the Chestnut Hill College Griffins 20-13 last Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Fritz followed up her outstanding freshman campaign with a monster game. The Lanco Elite Lacrosse Club alumna had four goals and three assists to lead the Warriors with seven points.

Rahmer also had a brilliant game of her own with four goals and one assist.

ESU started out slowly in this game. The Griffins were leading the Warriors 3-2, but ESU scored the next six out of seven goals to take a decisive 8-4 halftime lead.

After trading two early second half goals, the Warriors scored the next four out of five goals to make the score 13-6.

Chestnut Hill would rally and score the next two goals to make it 13-8. With 18 minutes to go, this was still a game.

But the Warriors would answer by scoring the next three goals to extend their lead to 16-8 before coasting to a 20-11 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Michelle Dyck held her own in her college debut. She made six saves to backstop ESU.

As a team, the Warriors outshot the Griffins 55-22. ESU also had a 24-8 edge in draw controls and forced Chestnut Hill into committing 19 turnovers.

Next for the Warriors (1-0) is a non-conference game against St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday, March 8.
