Teach Me How to Study

What’s the hardest part about taking a test?

Actually having to study for it.

This could be the hardest part about gearing up for a test, but it doesn’t have to be.

There are some effective study habits that you could use to improve your studying technique that will hopefully help pass your test.

First, create a study plan.

Designate certain hours of the day just for studying or reading.

In college, there is a tone of reading and the best way to stay on top of it is by reading a little bit each day. That way, it will be less stressful.

Determine a certain goal for yourself each week to challenge yourself to see if you can stay on it.

Next, this is a big one, manage your time!

Once you create a plan, write it down.

Set aside certain alarms on your phone to study that way you don not miss your study hour.

Get a group of friends and try to come up with a time that is best for everyone and so that you are not alone.

Also, finding a good place to study can also make your studying more effective.

Some people use the library. Others go to a lounge where there is more noise because when it’s too quiet, you may fall asleep.

Another important thing to do would be take notes in class.

Not only will it ensure that you’re paying attention, but it also helps you to ask questions if you need the professor to clarify something that you did not understand.

If you need additional help, compare your notes with another classmate and see if they can help.

Sometimes, the students can explain it better than the teachers.

Lastly, read before and after the class.

The first read is to gear you for what is expected to come in class, the second read is for your understanding of the material.

It is very important that you do NOT over study.

Over studying will lead you to get too anxious and therefore you will forget all the materials that you have studied.

Once you’re done studying reward yourself.

A treat is always deserved after a long day of work.
