Dansbury Depot’s “Music on Mondays” concludes this season with performances by ESU’s Musical Theater Organization (MTO).

Pennsylvania Council on the Arts teamed up with Eastburg Community  Alliance (ECA) to create the free concert performed by local musicians running every Monday of September and the first Monday of  October.

Sue Randall, the director of the ECA, enjoys hosting programs such as  “Music on Mondays” because it bridges the gap between the local and  campus communities.

“Downtown East Stroudsburg has a lot to offer ESU,” Randall said.

With more than 20 percent of ESU students being out-of-state  residents, many students are unfamiliar with the activities offered  by the East Stroudsburg community.

She pointed out some East Stroudsburg favorites such as the Pocono  Cinema, Jimmy’s Ice cream, the Trackside bar and grill and LizTech Gallery as great places for the two communities to interact.

While “Music on Mondays” is on its third year, this is the second time MTO has joined to event.

MTO is a student-run group with more than 30 strong, which is composed of both theatre and non-theatre major students interested in the artistic and technical elements of theatre.

Previous performances by the MTO include “Broadway Through the Ages: A Musical Journey Through Time,” and an electric show featuring songs from popular musicals such as “Grease” and “Hamilton.”

“Music on Mondays” may be over for the year, but students interested in participating or attending similar performances should keep their eyes peeled for upcoming open mic nights around campus by groups like the MTO and Calliope.
