A new Hip-Hop and R&B radio station in the East Stroudsburg area is looking to expand their management staff.

UniWorld Music Media is a new radio station in town who patterned up World Hype Radio to become the first Hip-Hop and R&B station in the Pocono area.

Amy Lothian, former student life editor of The Stroud Courier, has landed a job with World Hype Radio as a radio representative and marketing consultant.

Lothian believes that this is a great opportunity for ESU students who are interested in branding companies and the art of communicating.

“In my opinion, this a good opportunity for young people who are interested in the media field such as journalism or marketing because it gives an up close perspective of the industry,” states Lothian.

UniWorld Music Media was founded by Khalil Lundy, Ray Daniels and Paris Price ten years ago in New York.

The duo wanted to expand their business so they came to the East Stroudsburg and Pocono area to build a Hip-Hop and R&B music outlet.

They picked this area because of the lack of stations of this type. The partnership with the online radio station World Hype Radio, which was founded by Anthony Edwards, was to help enlarge their business in the radio industry and to spread Hip-Hop news across the district.

UniWorld Music Media has o\nly been in town since early September and they are still waiting for their FCC broadcasting license, but World Hype Radio has been online and active for years.

“World Hype Radio is the number one radio station for Hip-Hop and R&B music in the Poconos,” explained Lothian.

“The station is bringing something new to Northeastern Pennsylvania and has plans to expand to nearby towns such as Mount Pocono, Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton,” adds Lothian.

“The station currently has over 150,000 listeners who tune in from several countries across the world hear new and old R&B throwbacks and stimulating talk shows.”

She continues saying, “World Hype Radio also uses its platform to shed light on new R&B and Hip-Hop artists, local businesses and entrepreneurs.”

One of the founders, Khalil Lundy, says that the station’s mission is “ to provide quality music and radio shows that people can relate to” and “thriving to be a conglomerate” in the industry.

Lundy also includes that he is looking to hire ESU students who wish to pursue a career in marketing, journalism, and promotions and are encouraged to come to the station located at 553 Main Street in Stroudsburg.
