The Warriors defeated Slippery Rock 5-0 in the first round of the PSAC Tournament last Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors dominated this game with goals coming from the team’s top-scorers.

In the 17th minute, junior forward Bailey Quinn scored her tenth goal of the season to make the score 1-0 ESU.

In the 21st minute, junior back Amanda Crampton scored her second goal of the season on a penalty corner to put ESU ahead by two goals at halftime.

Junior midfielder Kelli Shapiro and senior back Sydney McCarthy both scored on penalty corners in the second half.

In the 51st minute, senior forward Melanie Shambaugh scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season to cap the scoring at five goals.

The game was never in doubt for the Warriors. ESU outshot Slippery Rock 18-5 and held a 6-2 edge in penalty corners.

The Warrior defense was outstanding. Senior goalkeeper Halle Frisco only had to make two saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Richie played the last three minutes to preserve the shutout.

The Warriors (16-3, 8-2) advanced to the PSAC Semifinals in Shippensburg where they will play Millersville (14-4, 8-2) in a rematch of last year’s semifinal game that Millersville won 1-0.

This will be the third meeting between the two archrivals. Warriors split their games with the Marauders this season. ESU beat Millersville in a non-conference game on Sept. 20, but the Marauders defeated ESU 1-0 in double-overtime on Oct. 11.
