The Men’s Soccer team defeated the defending PSAC champion Mercyhurst Lakers 3-0 in the first round of the PSAC Tournament at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Tuesday.

The Warriors have now won seven games in a row.

This game was a rematch of the game last Saturday afternoon that the Warriors won 3-1.

In the 41st minute of Tuesday’s game, senior back Keelby Espinola headed in a free kick by junior midfielder Jo Panuccio to put the Warriors ahead 1-0 at halftime.

In the opening minute of the second half, junior forward Eddy Enowbi scored his ninth goal of the season to put the Warriors ahead by two.

In the 56th minute, sophomore forward Marcus Torgersson scored on a cross from senior midfielder Christian Bukowski to make the final score 3-0 ESU.

Including Saturday’s game, the Warriors have scored six straight unanswered goals against the Lakers.

The team statistics for this game were pretty even. Both teams had nine shots, but ESU held a 5-3 advantage in shots-on-goal.

On the other hand, Mercyhurst had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

The glaring statistic was that the Lakers committed 20 fouls to only 10 fouls for the Warriors.

The Warriors (13-3-1, 8-3) advanced to play top-seeded West Chester (13-2-1, 11-0) in the semifinal game at West Chester tomorrow.
