From Rock to Jazz, to Christian music, to Acoustic, and even to Pop, there was something for everyone at this year’s annual Spring Jam.

Organized and run by 90.3 FM WESS, ESU’s own college radio station, Spring Jam is a day full of live music, games and overall groovy time.

The line-up this year consisted of; Velvet Bethany, Tracksuit Panda, Time Relapse, Chris Dela Cruz, Jokers Republic, Eric John, Brian Erikson, Athena Gallagher, Shock Value, Service Dog and ESU’s Christian Fellowship.

Unfortunately, the weather was not so spring-like last Friday with it being overcast and raining on and off all day.

The event began outside on the Shawnee Quad but quickly moved indoors with performances taking place in the McGarry Communications Building.

Chris de la Cruz said, “Performing at Spring Jam was a lot of fun! WESS was very helpful and supportive in helping run the event and allowing performers to give the best show possible.”

Attendance did not lack though with a crowd coming and going throughout the day. Set up in the TV studio with couches and a mini stage, Spring Jam was a never-ending, personal concert of people’s favorite local artists.

Students lounged around with their friends enjoying the music while snacking on Ritas provided for free by the Student Activities Association.

Games were also on offer outside the studio. Other ESU student clubs were also set up with activities such as corn hole and trivia games.

The performances kept coming with the first ever Spring Jam After Dark taking off at 10 P.M. to midnight, featuring specifically hip-hop and rap artists.

After Dark highlighted some local ESU talent with Laura Berry and The Collective performing. These performances were more intimate with mainly 90.3 FM WESS members

For those who are passionate about music and enjoy events like these, the radio station, 90.3 FM WESS is always open to new members. Located on the second floor of the McGarry Communications Centre, anyone can become a DJ or just get involved in and around the station.
