There’s no doubt that the University had to make changes to the Mattioli Recreation Center for it to reopen to the public.

One of the most unique changes, as detailed by Assistant Director of Campus Rec and Wellness Gerard Morgan, is that they moved all of their cardio equipment out of the upstairs fitness area.

They used one of the basketball courts for more space so that they can be used without needing to put on a mask.

They also spread out their strength equipment so that there’s about eight to ten feet between each piece of equipment.

To avoid overcrowding, they created a reservation system using IMLeagues to reserve spots.

For increased cleaning, they added “Ready to Clean” tags on the cardio machines to indicate they were used and are ready to be disinfected.

Concerning leagues and tournaments, they will be offering only single and double programs (cornhole, badminton, tennis, etc.).

Most notably, their hours have changed to Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Among the many changes, the only thing that has stayed the same is the free use of rec and lift, as long as you keep distance.

The MRC is open to all, as long as you adhere to the new changes.
