We asked ESU Students the following question: Have you seen the new “Quiet on the Set” Nickelodeon Documentary?”

Yes, I have seen it. I thought it was heartbreaking, and it made me sick to my stomach as I watched it. Those shows were a big part of my childhood, and I loved them. Knowing what I know now makes me sad because as they were shaping my childhood, theirs was being ripped away from them.

- While personally, I have not seen “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Children’s Television,” I have listened to podcasts that deconstruct what happens in each episode. Plus, I had certain insights into what was discussed in those because of YouTube video essays and Jeannette McCurdy’s book “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” I believe that the documentary in itself is an effective way of showing people how disgusting the adults in environments that were meant to be safe for children could be. But it also showcases how adults in those environments were not protected at all.

- No, I haven’t seen it. I have seen TikToks about it though. I’m scared, but I might watch it.
