The following accounts come from public incident reports found at the ESU Police Department.

August 23 – There was a fire alarm set off on the second floor of Sycamore Suites. No information was provided on what set off the alarm.

August 23 – A former ESU student called campus police to report an ex-boyfriend who is still a current student of the university. The former student reported that her ex-boyfriend repeatedly assaulted her for many years. She was admitted to the hospital in February with a head injury from him and decided not to return to ESU for safety concerns. She expressed concern for the safety of other female students at ESU because she is not the only female he has physically assaulted.

August 23 – There was a noise complaint in Hawthorn Suites for loud music.

August 24 – A robbery took place on Normal Street/South Green Street. Five males jumped and robbed a non-ESU male student of his shirt and shoes. One of the five males conducting the robbery, Steven Paul Abreu-Gautreaux, was arrested by a campus police officer. Abreu-Gautreaux was charged with two felonies in the third degree (Robbery – Take Property From Other/Force and Conspiracy – Robbery – Take Property From Other/Force) and two misdemeanors in the first degree (Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Property and Receiving Stolen Property). Abreu-Gautreaux’s bail was set at $25,000. It is currently unknown if he is still in custody, and it is unknown whether or not the other four individuals involved have been caught and charged.

August 25 – Charges were filed for possession of a small amount of marijuana in Hemlock Suites.

August 25 – A patrol occurred in Hawthorn Suites after suspicions of underage drinking arose.

August 26 – Disorderly conduct and harassment was reported in the Hemlock and Sycamore Quad between a male and multiple females.

August 26 – Medical assistance was called to Lenape Hall.

August 28 – A report of retail theft at the University Center’s Late Night was filed.

August 29 – The fire alarm was set off in Hawthorn Suites due to a student burning Kraft Mac n’ Cheese.

August 29 – A parent called for a wellness check on an ESU student. The student was found.

August 29 – Medical assistance was sent to the Mattioli Recreation Center’s basketball court.

If any ESU student is feeling unsafe or at risk, the ESU Police Department should be contacted immediately.
