“Bridgerton,” Netflix’s outrageously successful historical drama is officially returning for a second season.
If you have not heard of “Bridgerton,” then you have been living under a rock.
The series created by Chris Van Dusen and Shonda Rhimes who is best known for creating two other fan-favorite series, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal,” debuted last year on Christmas Day.
The series comes as a live adaption of New York Time’s bestselling novel, “The Duke and I” by Julia Quinn.
The novels and the streaming series follow various the upstanding social lives of peoples during the Regency era in England.
Full of debutantes, viscounts, lords, ladies, and drama for days, “Bridgerton” captured the attention of millions upon millions of people and ran.
In January of this year, Forbes Magazine reported, “Bridgerton” becoming the most-watched original series, after 82 million people had watched the series from the day it premiered.
However, keep in mind this was a report from January and the number has more than likely surpassed this.
Following the show’s namesake, highly regarded family the Bridgertons are preparing for their oldest daughter Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) debut into England’s social scene.
Daphne receives the queen’s praise and is quickly regarded as the diamond of the season.
After this moment, it is a race for Miss. Daphne Bridgerton to find a worthy husband. However, this task becomes quite difficult when the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) returns to England and almost everyone has a say in who she can marry.
A gossip column by a mysterious ‘Lady Whistledown’ seems to be of the utmost importance to the times’ high society and the column just adds to the drama.
Although the series’ first season mostly focuses on Daphne, it does also follow other crucial characters in the show, like the other elder children of the Bridgerton brood and the family’s friends, the Featheringtons.
If you have not seen “Bridgerton,” I do not want to spoil the series best moments, but you will want to catch up soon as the second season has already started filming.
As 82 million plus people wait for season two, there are no worries about the loss of interest as ‘Bridgerton: The Musical’ comes to life on social media platform TikTok.
Two musical talents, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, who now go by ‘Barlow & Bear’ have entranced everyone again with more “Bridgerton” content but in the form of a musical.
With over about 40 million views on the original songs created this musical is taking off and will become the second huge musical made on TikTok after ‘Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical.’
There have been other TikTok musicals but “Ratatouille” and “Bridgerton” are the biggest thus far.
‘Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical’ was a full production of the Disney/Pixar 2007 animated film “Ratatouille.”
It was performed and streamed virtually with a star-studded cast.
Now, it seems ‘Bridgerton: The Musical’ will follow in its steps.
Abigail Barlow, who does most of the signing, and composer, Emily Bear’s musical has been greatly received by mostly everyone and has most on the edge of their seats, begging for more songs.
They finally have a website up and running, www.barlowandbear.com, where fans can listen to rough full-length demos of the songs they created for the musical and buy merch.
Technically there are thirteen songs created for the musical, however, right now, there are ten complete ‘very’ rough official demos (as stated on the site). All snippets of songs can be seen mostly on Abigail Barlow’s TikTok page.
Out of the thirteen, my top five favorites out of all the phenomenal songs are: “Burn for You,” “If I Were a Man,” “Balancing the Scales,” “Oceans Away,” and “Fool for You.”
In my opinion, these songs are top-tier bangers and if you love great musical numbers you will love these songs.
Once again, “Bridgerton” is a must-see if you have not seen it already.
I guarantee you will be practicing your British accent after the first episode.
