Sarah Street Grill had their first annual Oktoberfest this past Sunday on September 28. The event was held at Sarah Street parking lot; they had live music, vendors, food and games.

“I think what I was most excited for was all the vendors coming out to participate in our event. I think the local food trucks that came out were really awesome too. Just the whole town coming together, not every business puts together an Oktoberfest, so I think it was great our business to put one together,” said Taylor Safin, manager and bartender at Sarah Street Grill.

When most people think about Sarah Street Grill they mostly just think about it as a local restaurant, but it’s not just a restaurant, they are a big supporter of live music and local music.

Singers and performers during their Oktoberfest celebration were Sol Katana, Erin McClelland, Lilly Moss Duo and the Sam Houseal Band. All of the artists put on an amazing show and had people dancing and singing along to their music while everyone enjoyed the festivities.

A wide variety of things were sold by the vendors, including jewelry, permanent jewelry, candy, beef jerky, pasta and artwork by local artists.

The jewelry was sold by Vanessa Capriglione, owner of Lioness Dreamland who mostly sells crystals and vintage jewelry. Capriglione had a wide selection of crystals, handmade necklaces and many more options for many different people to enjoy.

The permanent jewelry was a service provided by Forever Bonded, where Jamie Keeney attaches the piece of jewelry on your person by welding the chain together. It is a unique experience, allowing the person getting the service to create or design your own piece of jewelry that is attached to you permanently.

The candy and beef jerky was sold by Mountain Sales & Distributors, owned by Charles Ritchie.

The pasta that was sold by Patrick O’Meara, owner of Patrick Makes Pasta. He had many different types of pasta to choose from and he uses local ingredients to make pasta from scratch.

There was also a local tattoo artist that was selling their art work at the Oktoberfest event. Myke Maldonado was selling various different prints of his art work.

Of course an Oktoberfest wouldn’t be an Oktoberfest without the food. Sarah Street Grill was selling German style foods for many to enjoy, along with the food trucks, Micah and Amanda’s Bitchin’ Kitchen and SquareFare.

When asking head chef of Sarah Street Grill, Rob Peoplesdorph, what was his favorite thing to make for Oktoberfest he expressed that Jägerschnitzel was his favorite, due to his German roots.

Along with the vendors, food and live music there were games and a friendly competition. There was beer pong, table shuffle board and cornhole. The competition that was held was a stein holding contest, the competitors had to hold a liter’s worth of water in an outstretched arm for as long as they could and the last one standing won.

After the outside events ended Sarah Street kept the party going by inviting all that joined them at Oktoberfest inside to see the Sam Houseal Band perform.
