Who says college students are too old for Legos? At East Stroudsburg University’s recent Lego event, the classic toy provided a much-needed break from textbooks, terms papers and academic pressures.

On Nov. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m., 325 students at ESU came together to the University Center to play Lego Bingo.

Unlike traditional Bingo, Lego Bingo at ESU is played electronically. A QR code was put up on a screen at the front of the room and students could scan it to get their Bingo card.

There were 500 different cards available. Numbers were drawn randomly, and after the winning Bingo was verified, a prize was awarded.

Prizes included over thirty Lego Sets including the Wicked Emerald City Wall Art set, the Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer, and a Philadelphia Art Love set.

All the Lego prizes had at least 400 pieces with some sets like the Statue of Liberty set containing over 1,000 pieces.

According to Samuel Exeter, Assistant Director of the Student Activity Association (SAA), this event has been taking place for at least four years and is one of the most highly attended and successful events that they host.

The organizers host this event in hopes that it will help students feel connected to the campus community, feel involved, and give them a chance to win and just have fun and relax.

Although this event is advertised on social media and posters are hung up around campus, this event sells itself with many students looking forward to it year after year and sharing it with their friends and people new to the campus.
