As autumn scoops up summer’s green leaves for the yellow, orange, red, purple and brown leaves, the fall season has officially arrived for East Stroudsburg.
Jimmy’s Ice Cream, located at 75 Crystal Street, East Stroudsburg, created its own seasonal pumpkin ice cream on Sept. 4, as they switched out summer’s flavors for a taste of the upcoming harvest.
Jen, a server at Jimmy’s, was able to make my pumpkin, vanilla and cake batter ice cream. While many stick with the usual flavors of their favorite ice cream to protect their tastebuds, the soft serve pumpkin ice cream has abundantly made its mark for a creative ice cream experiment.
“It’s been popular. I don’t know if it’s here…the other locations I know it is. Yeah, a lot of people here want hard ice cream, but it is popular. People do get excited when they see it,” said Jen.
My experiment includes a multi flavor combination of vanilla, cake batter, and pumpkin ice creams. These flavors transcend the game for anyone wanting to bridge the gap between the end of the summer’s sweetness, and cozy, calm fall spices. When combining these three specific ice cream profiles, it creates a festive and entirely fresh new flavor.
The pumpkin ice cream has a robust, warm punch of cinnamon and rich flavoring that signals the changing seasons but on it’s own can overwhelm the senses. The buffering vanilla scoop provides a traditional smooth, creamy baseline that softens the sharpness of the pumpkin soft served ice cream.

The hidden card of the ice cream trio is cake batter. The deep frosting frosting-like sweetness cuts directly through the exquisite, earthy qualities of the pumpkin. Blending them copies the exact sensation of enjoying a fluffy slice of pumpkin pie à la mode, it completely reimagined inside an ice cream dish.
The sheer richness of combining cake batter and premium hard scoops of vanilla and pumpkin spice shall be warned not to eat this on a full stomach or half full one to enjoy and finish the ice cream. The heavy, luxurious profile makes it a meal to prepare for all on its own.
Right outside their building is a sign that says, “Apply Within,” so anyone who wishes to have first-hand experience can start here.
“Someone to scoop the ice cream,” she said about necessary job skills. “I think they’re hiring even right now and if you stay on, you stay on…” Jen told me, “I started at Jimmy’s back in May…I love it! I’ll tell anyone to work here at Jimmy’s.”
The shop’s daily operating hours are from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. The seasonal pumpkin rotation is available for a limited window ahead of their mid-autumn transition.
