Friday, April 12th, the sisters of the Ionia Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Inc. hosted the “ESU’s Got Talent,”talent show in Stroud Hall room 117, to give East Stroudsburg University students the chance to showcase their talents and compete for prizes.
A salsa dance by the group Pure Esencia, step performance from ESU’s Explosion Step Team, a solo vocal performance by Nazreen Joemmanbaks, and a rap performance by Funds Payday, were just a few of the seven acts that performed that night.
Not only were audience members entertained by the contributing performers, but they also had the opportunity to partake in dance contests and trivia during brief breaks in the show.
The sisters of the Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Inc. graced the stage a few times to perform various strolls and steps. After deliberation between the judges Gianna Morris, Jasmin Pulley, and Cornelia Sewell- Allen, the winners of the show were East Stroudsburg University’s own Explosion Step Team. The team was graced with cheers and applause, and handed a trophy.
The Keep A Breast Foundation is currently Mu Sigma Upsilon’s National Philanthropy. This foundation is the leading non-profit and youth focused organization for breast cancer.
The organization’s mission is to get rid of future cases of breast cancer and support young women already affected by it. To support this foundation, the show’s admission fee of three dollars per person, and all other proceeds from the night were donated to it.
The talent show marked the last event in the sorority’s “week of enlightenment.”
“ The biggest thing is that we wanted to show ESU who we are, and we wanted to have a University event, so we figured that having people show their talents was the best way to do it.” said the show’s organizer Enecia Rivera.
