On February 7, Koehler Fieldhouse at East Stroudsburg University exploded with roaring parents, fans, and competitors who revved up track and field’s DeSchriver Invitational. With tensions high, ESU managed to take first place in thirteen out of forty-one events.

Tiraz Johnson and Steven Morgan locked in as double winners for this PSAC Invitational.

Steven Morgan took first place in men’s long jump and men’s 55 meter hurdles. Ms. Johnson took first place in women’s long jump and women’s triple jump.

ESU took home victories in women’s high jump with the help of Christina O’Connor and men’s high jump thanks to Will Berry.

In the women’s 4×200 meter relay, ESU’s Danielle Smith, Alexis Bell, Trizah Johnson, and Sage Terembula beat West Chester by one second to take first place.

Steve Ruch brought ESU another victory in the men’s 1 mile run while Damien Boham added to the thirteen overall victories by winning the men’s 600 meter run.

Both the men and women’s 4×400 meter relay and distance medley teams took first place. Ronald D’Eliseo, Damien Boham, Juwaan Walker, and Derrick Washington beat Kutztown by six seconds. The women’s team of Erin Brady, Danielle Smith, Jaid Harsch, and Hope Decker stole victory from Kutztown by eight seconds in the 4×400 relay.

The distance medleys were both huge victories for ESU. The women’s team of Allison Decker, Kaylyn West, Lauren Toth, and Samantha Young beat Alvernia by over 1 minute. The men’s team of Dan Buccino, Elijah Mercado, Bradley Meixsell, and Alec Lederer stood strong with a 56 second lead over Alderson Broaddus.

Not falling far behind ESU’s thirteen victories were Monroe College with six, West Chester with five, and Shippensburg taking home four victories.

The Warriors will compete again on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Susquehanna Open.
