Yet again, another fraternity is in the news. But wait, not every time a fraternity makes the news is for something bad.

Recently, Kappa Delta Rho (KDR) here at East Stroudsburg University saw a need on campus, a need to show our appreciation to the campus police who keep our campus safe.

Not only do they keep us safe, but also they give our parents and us peace of mind knowing someone is out there keeping the bad guys away and giving us safe rides at night.

On April 16, Kappa Delta Rho decided it was time to take action. Several KDR Brothers from our school brought the Campus Police a quick afternoon snack, coffee and donuts.

Kappa Delta Rho Alumni President, Christopher Stanukenas said, “Bringing the snacks was a long time overdue.” One of the brothers I reached out to was full of comments and excitement about spending some time with the Police department.

Joseph Pipoli of KDR stated, “It felt good knowing we were giving a little something back to the good people that keep our campus safe”

Several Brothers of Kappa Delta Rho are local to the Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg area, and attempted to hold an afternoon event with a local police department who consistently goes above and beyond, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, but no calls or emails were ever returned.

The Pennsylvania State Police were much more open to the idea, but due to scheduling conflicts, the event has been postponed until next semester.

Vice President Martin Soltan and Risk Manager Rob Novak stated, “The event done today will be continuing and hopefully we can expand the event into more than just coffee and donuts.”
