The Soundmine Recording studio, located in East Stroudsburg, opened in 1996.
Since then, Dan Malsch has produced bands from all over the US and Europe.
He specializes in mixing tracks and is compared to some of the best-known mixers in the business.
Last Christmas, I was lucky enough to get a gift card for this studio. I had three and a half hours and that allowed me to record up to 9 songs. I didn’t have any original songs, but I was able to burn some backtracks onto a blank CD and bring it in with me.
Once I found the studio, shoved into heavy woods, I parked and walked up red stairs and inside. Malsch greeted me, and showed me where everything was.
He brought me back into the room behind the glass and made sure the microphone matched my height and the headphones fit my head well.
He made sure I was comfortable, provided me with water and I never felt nervous around him. The studio was impressive to say the least. It consisted of two different buildings. I recorded in the building on the left (studio B). This studio was for one or two people, and mostly for backtrack recording.
The other studio (Studio A) was made for large bands and had room for all instruments.
This studio is the real deal. In Studio B, it had consoles, computers, mic pre-amplifiers and equalizers, compressors and speakers.
Studio A had all of the above and much more.
Some of the artists that Soundmine produced include: Forever the Sickest Kids, Fosterchild, Bigwig, Chiddy Bang, Four Year Strong, The Naked Brothers Band and Michael Graves.
There are a lot more where that came from, and each of their albums are displayed on a giant wall at the studio.
I’ve always enjoyed singing. I was in multiple school musicals and performed at the Acoustic Rock Show in high school as well.
I uploaded a few videos here and there on YouTube (Amy Liss), Vine and Facebook, but I never expected to be able to go record at an actual studio. It really was a dream come true, and I was stoked to be able to do that.
Once he uploaded all of my songs onto a CD, I took it home and imported them into my iTunes. I have posted 1 so far, and everyone seems to love it.
I can’t wait to go back with my brother so we can collaborate on a few of his original songs.
Soundmine Recording Studio is located in East Stroudsburg / Marshalls Creek, PA. The studio will soon be building another studio near campus.
