ESU’s field hockey team notched a 5-1 victory over the Seton Hill University Griffins at Whitenight Field last Saturday afternoon.

This was ESU’s annual “Think Pink” game. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The field hockey game was also one of many games that were played during ESU’s Homecoming Weekend.

Sophomore forward Bailey Quinn had the first and last goals of the game to bookend the scoring for the Warriors.

Sophomores Kelli Shapiro and Makenna Marhefka scored one goal apiece in the first half to give the Warriors a commanding 3-0 lead at intermission.

Early in the second half, Seton Hill junior forward Alesha Herman beat senior goalkeeper Danielle Ard to give the Griffins its first goal of the game.

That gave Seton Hill some momentum, but second half goals by junior Sydney McCarthy and Quinn ensured a decisive 5-1 victory for the Warriors.

ESU (13-3, 7-1) will play the Shippensburg Raiders at Whitenight Field this Saturday on Parents Day.

Shippensburg sits in firstplace in the PSAC with a perfect 7-0 record including a 1-0 overtime win over the Warriors back on Sept. 17.
