Last Sunday, ESU’s Women’s Soccer team overcame an early 1-0 scoring deficit to beat the Kutztown University Golden Bears 2-1 to win their third straight PSAC Championship at West Chester’s Rockwell Field.

ESU senior midfielder Shea Neal was named the PSAC Tournament MVP. This was the third year in a row that she earned that distinction.

In only the second minute of the championship game, Kutztown sophomore forward Felicia Silveira scored her first goal of the season to give the Golden Bears an early 1-0 lead.

That was a good sign for Kutztown because the Golden Bears had won 22 consecutive games when they scored first.

But in the 30th minute of the game, Neal scored the equalizer to make the game 1-1.

In the 64th minute of the game, Neal scored her second goal. It would prove to be the championship-winning goal for the Warriors.

On Monday, it was announced that the Warriors were selected to play in the NCAA Division II Tournament. ESU will play Notre Dame (Ohio) in a first round game at noon on Friday, Nov. 8.

The winner of that game will play West Chester on Sunday at noon at West Chester’s Rockwell Field.
