Advice Column: Big Girls Don’t Cry

We all have heard Fergie’s song “Big Girls Don’t Cry” that puts us females in an empowering mood after a breakup.

But actually it’s harder than you think not to cry after a heartbreak, but it is not impossible!

Breakups are terrible, but it is not the end of the world.

Although you may feel like you will never get over it, believe me you will.

You just have to tap into that inner Beyoncé and find that strength and fierceness and deal with it.

First off, don’t be afraid to cry.

Crying it out might actually help because you allow yourself to release all those tense emotions and feelings that you have.

You can also release some stress that you put on your body after a breakup.

Next, if you need a day or two or even a month to recover and not date for a while, do that.

There is nothing wrong with eating ice cream and snacks by the TV just to clear your head and vent to your friends, but you can’t do that forever.

After you have sulked, it is always best to get really cute, and pamper yourself.

There are more fish in the sea, and you’re not going to find them in the house.

Going out with friends and dancing your pain and frustration away is always a great way to get over someone, and who knows, you might meet someone along the way.

Also, find something that you like to do.

It can either be shopping, exercising, or even taking an art class can help get rid of negative thoughts.

You could even go on a mini vacation with friends.

There is nothing better than a nice a getaway and relaxation with friends to create new memories instead of dwelling on old ones.

Block your ex from all social media outlets.

You don’t want to keep tabs on the person’s life.

It will only make it harder for you to get rid of the person and it might break your heart even more.

It seems like it will take forever to get over a breakup, but it can be done.

It just takes one Beyoncé song at a time.
