ESU’s Men’s Soccer team defeated Slippery Rock 3-1 at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Alumni Day last Saturday.

This was the fifth win for the Warriors. The team is now ranked No. 6 in the PSAC. The top six teams will qualify for the PSAC Tournament at the end of the season.

The Warriors had a few scoring opportunities in the first half, but none of them found the back of the net. All the scoring took place in the second half.

In the 51st minute, senior back James McMahon scored off of an assist by junior forward Eddy Enowbi.

Several minutes later, sophomore forward Irvin Zuzic scored his second goal of the season to put the Warriors ahead 2-0.

Twenty minutes later, The Rock struck back. Slippery Rock senior midfielder Tyler McCarthy scored his second goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game.

But in the 88th minute, the Warriors would add another insurance goal when freshman forward Michael Tolley scored his first goal of the season off of an assist by sophomore back Matthew West to make the score 3-1.

ESU outshot Slippery Rock 16-7, but the corner kicks were even at three.

Outstanding defense by the Warriors meant that junior goalkeeper Will Boerema only had to make one save.

Slippery Rock redshirt senior goalkeeper Jonathan Sharp made five saves in the loss.

ESU (5-2-1, 3-1-1) travels northwest to Erie, Pa. to play Gannon University on Sunday, Oct. 8.
