The St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans defeated ESU’s Women’s Tennis team 8-1 on ESU’s Wolbers Courts to close the book on the fall season last Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore Marina Zardet was the lone Warrior to earn a win. She defeated St. Thomas Aquinas senior Nyenyeri Kanefu 7-5, 6-3.

Unfortunately, Zardet would not fare as well in her doubles match. At No. 1 doubles, the St. Thomas Aquinas duo of senior Sara O’Brien and freshman Lovisa Engstrand defeated ESU’s doubles team of Zardet and sophomore Aubrianna Stetina 8-2.

Freshman Amanda Jackson is emerging as a player for the Warriors this season. Jackson played a very competitive match at No. 6 singles before falling to Spartan senior Carolyn Kopf 8-4.

The Warriors will return to the hard courts in the spring.
