A stabbing occurred on campus late Wednesday night, according to news reports. The assault happened on Shawnee Quad after the victim was walking back from the Mattioli Recreation Center.
According to local WNEP 16, there was a fight and then a victim was stabbed twice. It is believed, according to the same report, that the victim knew the assailants.
Students received a campus safety alert around 1 a.m. In this alert, ESU said there was “conflicting information” on the nature of the incident.
According to Elizabeth Richardson of University Relations, campus police have handed over the investigation to state police. This is an active investigation.
The victim is currently being treated at a local hospital. According to ESU, the victim is “stable with non-life threatening injuries.” No arrests have been made.
