Valentine’s Day is coming up, and the Poconos is the perfect place to celebrate.
The Poconos has a rich history of hosting couples for romantic getaways, and there are plenty of
places near ESU for students to take their significant others.
“I’m excited for Valentine’s Day,” said freshman nursing major Zuri Brunei, “I hope that I get to
do something fun.”
Here are six local places for students to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
1. Stay on Campus
ESU is hosting its own Valentine’s Day celebration for students to enjoy.
Mattioli Recreation Center is hosting the Day of Love, an event including a glow-in-the-dark
roller rink, miniature golf, a 360 photo booth and a dj, among other activities.
“The purpose is to promote positivity and love to the student body while giving students the
opportunity to socialize with those that they love,” said Denise Ferron, the assistant director of
student engagement.
ESU’s Day of Love will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 6-10 p.m.
2. The Frogtown Chophouse
The Frogtown Chophouse is a restaurant that specializes in steaks and seafood.
Located about 20 minutes off ESU’s campus, the restaurant offers a romantic and personalized
fine-dining experience with reasonable pricing.
At Frogtown, students can enjoy a delicious and intimate meal with their partner.
3. Pure Day Spa
Pure Day Spa is another close location to campus where students can celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Students and their significant others can go to the spa to get a variety of relaxing treatments,
including facials, massages, spray tanning, waxing, manicures and pedicures.
They also offer companion massages, a couple’s spa experience that seeks to reconnect couples
romantically through massage.
4. Farmhouse Eatery
If students are looking for a location within walking distance from campus, there is also
Farmhouse Eatery.
There are two locations of this restaurant in the Poconos, but one of the branches is located
within a mile of ESU.
It features a quaint dining area as well as an intimate menu made from scratch, a perfect place for
students to celebrate Valentine’s Day very close to campus.
5. Pocono Palace
Pocono Palace, located about 20 minutes off campus, is a couple’s retreat with activities to
satisfy every interest.
“Guests gather at the Indoor Activity Zone for basketball, mini golf, tennis, billiards and arcade
games all during the day and enjoy live entertainment at night after a romantic date dinner in the
Lakeview Dining Room,” said the official website of Cove Pocono Resorts.
Pocono Palace is a great option for students who are looking to take their significant others on a
retreat, although this choice does come with a more expensive price tag.
6. Sherman Theater
The theater is another great place to spend quality time with your loved one.
Sherman Theater, located on Stroudsburg’s Main Street, has a variety of shows around
Valentine’s Day that will offer quality entertainment.
Shows include “Love is a Drag,” on Feb. 10 and “My Secret Valentine: A Burlesque Comedy
Show” on Feb. 11.
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and these are some great places to celebrate with your
significant other.
