Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration on May 5 which commemorates Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
However, this holiday is treated as another excuse to drink and party with friends and family.
If you’re looking for some fun activities to do next Thursday, here is a list of 3 events in the area:
1. The Wooden Match in Bethlehem is hosting a Cinco de Mayo Block Party on Friday, May 5 at 4 p.m.
“We will have live music, food trucks, beer trucks, cigars, tequila bar, high noon bar, games & more!” states the Wooden Match website.
This event is family-friendly, so children and pets are welcome.
Food trucks include Taco Town, Lehigh Valley BBQ, Pats Bistro and more.
Live music for Friday and Sunday will feature DJ Jamal Knight and Saturday will feature Rusty Snow.

2. La Posada and Felix’s Cantina in Milford are hosting a Mexican fiesta that will take place from Thursday, May 4 to Saturday, May 6.
“To commemorate the hotel’s first anniversary, along with Felix’s legacy, La Posada is hosting a three-day fiesta with Mexican cuisine, free salsa dancing classes, live music, and more,” stated Laina Terry, travel and restaurant publicist.
Salsa Social at Felix’s Cantina will take place Thursday, May 4, according to Terry. Guests of the hotel are invited for complimentary salsa dancing with food and beverages available for purchase. All levels of dancers are welcome.
“El Mercado” at La Posada will take place Friday, May 5, according to Terry. This Mexican street food fiesta on the lawn will feature an al pastor taco stand and an elote cart. Log Tavern Brewery will also serve specials. Other street food and Mexican snacks will be offered inside the restaurant. La Nota, a local dance school, will offer free dance lessons.
“Se Cabo” at the Milford Theatre will take place Saturday, May 6, according to Terry. Se Sabo, a cover band, will play Carlos Santana.

3. Pocono Family YMCA on Main St. is hosting Family Fun Night on Friday, May 5 from 6-8 p.m.
“Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with us for a fun evening of games, activities, swimming…all for FREE!” states the Pocono Family YMCA website.
Registration for summer camp will also be available at this time.
