Early in the morning of Sept. 30, 2023, an altercation involving a knife occurred at the University Ridge between students.

Both sustained injuries and were taken to the nearby Lehigh Valley Health Network.

While ESU has not released an official statement, other news outlets have already reported on the delicate matter.

According to the Morning Call, “Police said the students – both 19-year-old men – were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.”

Students were frightened at the onset of the situation, many of them deciding to post about it on “YikYak,” a social media platform that honors anonymity.

“You can’t blame the school for how the students act and how they handle situations….at the end of the day we are all adults that should know right from wrong, good from evil,” reads one anonymous post.

Another reads:

“After what happened yesterday and people are still trying to divide themselves from others, why can’t we just have some peace for once,” said an anonymous writer.

If students are struggling with distressing thoughts about the situation, they can reach out to the student resources that ESU has on campus, such as CARE, CAPS, and the University Police.

Students can sign up for these resources on the ESU website, and should not hesitate to reach out to the previously listed resources if they feel as if they need help.
