After being closed this past season, Terra Greens Golf Course in East Stroudsburg is open once again under new management.

In November 2022, the borough of East Stroudsburg decided to stop funding the course, causing it to shut down. Many golfers expressed their displeasure, including Bryan Zukawski. Zukawski and his family owned and ran the golf course for over 40 years, before selling it to the town in 2006.

Zukawski, with the help of Kelly Lewis, and a few other avid golfers with a love for Terra Greens, were able to secure a lease agreement to the run the golf course themselves. After their approval in the summer, they still had a long way to go before the course was back up and running.

“The end of June, when we got into here and were able to start mowing where fairways were probably three feet high to the seed heads, greens were four inches-plus high. The transformation has been amazing,” said Zukawski. Despite the challenge, they were able to reopen less than a year after being closed, just in time for the end of the season.

To celebrate this accomplishment, Terra Greens held a golf tournament open to everyone on Oct. 20, with various prizes for the qualifiers. All proceeds went to the Friends of Terra Greens Golf Course to help them maintain and preserve the Terra Greens Golf Course.

Having provided an affordable course for local golfers for over 50 years, Terra Greens is beloved by the community. “It was really disappointing to hear they closed down, you know? I always loved playing there, especially since it’s so close to home. I’m just glad they are open again, excited to get back out there with my friends.” said local golfer, Vinzent Doyle.
