Are you stuck on your English essay’s thesis? Is the APA format for your exercise science paper confusing? How often have you tried to fix your comma errors only for three more to pop up?

If you are struggling and need an extra set of eyes, check out ESU’s Writing Studio! The studio is located on the main floor of the Kemp Library in the back right from the main doors.

ESU’s Writing Studio is where students can make appointments to ask questions and have a tutor review their work. This includes essays, resumes, cover letters, research papers, and more!

According to ESU’s Writing Studio website, the studio can help with numerous topics such as “brainstorming, understanding paper assignments, reviewing comments on graded work returned from faculty, or polishing any aspect of a paper from developing a focus to punctuation to citations.”

Many students are unaware of how easy it is to use this service because most don’t even know it is there. It’s really simple! First, make an appointment through WarriorFish. Then, come in person or sign into Zoom at the designated time to meet with a tutor. That’s it!

Yes, I said in person or on Zoom. The Writing Studio offers appointments in the library and online for the convenience of students who need assistance. We also offer extended hours on Wednesdays from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

According to Marrisa Slowinski, the GA for the studio, it is “a great space for ESU students to get help on an assignment or any general writing-related questions.” The studio is all about giving students accessible help on assignments to help increase understanding and improve grades.

“Our tutors are fellow students and are more than capable of aiding with any questions and concerns about writing,” continued Slowinski. Every tutor has taken classes that require lengthy, in-depth papers. They understand how it feels to get stuck on the conclusion.

The Writing Studio is here for students who are looking to learn how to improve their skills while improving their grades. Tutors can explain format, punctuation, and professional writing in a thirty-minute session.

Furthermore, starting on Dec. 4, ESU’s Writing Studio is participating in the Final Paper Push. From Monday to Thursday, each day has a special theme to help students get through the last week of classes right before finals.

Monday is Mug Monday and focuses on a cozy treat of hot chocolate. Tuesday is Taco Tuesday, so come on by for a great lunch. Wednesday is Writing Wednesday where coffee and cold drinks will be available. Finally, Thursday is Treat Thursday. On this day the studio will be offering holiday cookies, cider, and other festive goodies.

Come on by The Writing Studio and see what the tutors have to offer. Essays, research papers, and resumes are all welcome!
