Valentine’s Day, especially in elementary school, was the best: free candy! You would sign each Valentine with your classmate’s name and get to pass around your goodies. As we grow, it changes considerably, but the candy remains the same. Valentine’s Day is usually a day for couples to express their love for each other through flowers and a box of chocolates. Well, this year, why not try something different…
Galentine’s Day is a new and improved idea. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t express your love to your partner if you have one, but this is a fun way to show your appreciation to your friends as well. It can be something simple or extravagant. That is up to you. Having a great group or just your best friend, celebrating the people closest to you, can be a great time regardless.
With the cold weather and stress of school, life can be challenging during the winter months. Taking the time in February to plan and look forward to something can be just what you need.
If Galentine’s Day interests you, you have found the right place. Here are some ideas to get the party started.
1. Epic Brunch
Get your friends together and hold a brunch. Consider decorating with pink and red hearts, cute napkins and plates. The options are endless for decorations. If you like cooking, some heart-shaped pancakes or waffles are in order. Anything you desire can be a perfect idea for you and your friends.

2. Movie Night
To have a more relaxed Galentine’s Day, try a rom-com movie night. Pull out the classics, some snacks and relax. Dwell in the romance of the movies and giggle with your friends. Some of the best nights and memories are laughing and hanging out with friends.
3. Weenies and Martini’s
This is a trend going around the internet of having a group of friends over, concocting some mocktails or cocktails, and enjoying each other’s company. The weenies aspect would be hot dogs, pigs in a blanket or any recipe you would like involving hot dogs. It may seem like a weird combo, but if you love a ballpark dog and your drink of choice, being surrounded by your friends is always a good time.
4. Spa Day
Grab your robe, your friends and some face masks, and you relax. If you choose, a nail salon is in the day plans, or simply stay at home. However you and your friends would like to pamper yourself, this is a great way to catch up with each other while having a good time.
These are just a few ideas to spark the excitement toward Galentine’s Day. They can be as expensive or inexpensive as you would like. It is never about what you spend, but who you are with and the memories you make. Don’t forget this chance to celebrate. Hug and thank the ones you love, and have a fun holiday.
