Despite the Super Bowl being one of the largest championship games in sports, the commercials are talked about just as much. Everyone stares at the screen to see which brand will use the most celebrities to spread information. Let’s look at some of this year’s most talked-about commercials!

  1. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito reunite to create a brand new State Farm advertisement. The Twins actors came together to work with an iconic company to persuade viewers to check out State Farm Insurance.
  2. Whether you like electric cars or not, KIA went for the emotional approach and tugged at the heartstrings of audiences. The story of a young girl who just wants to skate for her grandfather leads into the announcement of a new electric car. Eyes began to tear up and viewers couldn’t look away.
  3. Dunkin Donuts, a company that does not require constant advertisement, put together a commercial with A-listers such as Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Tom Brady and Jennifer Lopez. Between the celebrity appearances and humor aspect, the “Dunkings” commercial proved to be a true success.

Each of these commercials aimed to influence its audience through an emotional approach or a reputation-based production. State Farm already has “Jake” yet managed to come up with a script for Schwarzenegger and DeVito to continue the legacy.

KIA often focuses on using people’s feelings to make them remember the commercial. This strategy has been done in 2019, 2022 and now 2024. When viewers feel emotionally attached to an ad, they remember the video and think about it anytime the brand is mentioned. Whenever someone brings up electric cars, people will think of KIA’s commercial.

Dunkin Donuts is known for working with celebrities and is not afraid to be the comic relief during the Super Bowl. With the creation of a new boy band featuring Ben Affleck, Tom Brady and others, Dunkin tries to associate laughter with its coffee.

The real question is which commercials did people find to be the best, and are they as effective as they seem?

“The best was Dunkings. I’m going to be honest, I only paid attention to that one. The rest seemed confusing or ridiculous and not in a funny way,” said sophomore Makayla Stock.

Many of the commercials were viewed as a waste of a slot due to the lack of clarity and entertainment value. Viewers had to watch the same “Temu” commercial three times during the championship and still brushed it aside.

According to junior Riley Wert, “These commercials are honestly incredibly effective. Multiple brands and celebrities caught my attention, including Kanye West, and led me to look up different products and brands.”

Overall, the 2024 Super Bowl had a wide range of commercials based on humor, emotions and celebrity appearances. Some were incredibly successful and are still being discussed such as e.l.f and KIA. On the other hand, Temu, Snapchat and SquareSpace did not receive the best reviews.

Commercials, especially during championships, are when companies put their best foot forward. The concepts become crazy, and the production value is high. With the help of soft music, funny ideas and guest appearances, these commercials will be referenced for months to come.
