With an increase in bomb threats targeting schools across Pennsylvania and the United States, including East Stroudsburg University, campus authorities are promoting caution among students and faculty.

Despite the alarming nature of these threats, investigations have revealed no evidence of credibility in any of the threats.

A recent alert issued to the campus community outlined the escalating issue, revealing that multiple police departments have received bomb threat calls and emails regarding public events.

Campus police quickly responded to the threats directed at the ESU, determining that the threat was exactly that, just a threat. The incident has since been transferred to the Pennsylvania State Police for further scrutiny.

In the Lehigh Valley, 25 miles south of ESU, a series of bomb threats last week at Saucon Valley School District resulted in the arrest of a girl.

The FBI, as well as the state, local and university police, have made it clear they are not taking these bomb threats lightly. Perpetrators of such threats face severe legal consequences, including being charged with a Class C felony, punishable by up to seven years in prison.

University police emphasize their commitment to treating all emergency calls as legitimate until proven otherwise, highlighting the importance of reporting any suspicious activity or individuals. Students and staff are encouraged to remain aware and report any concerns immediately.

For any emergencies or reports of suspicious activity, students and faculty are urged to contact University Police at 422-3063 or dial 911 for immediate assistance.
