College life can become a little dull when there is nothing new going on. But, if you have a car here on campus or can carpool with friends, get ready for some new businesses to visit in town.

The first new addition to campus is the university center. Walking to classes you may have seen the giant construction site on campus and noticed how quickly the university center is coming together. As of now there isn’t an exact date of completion, but it will be finished within the year.

This is something that we all can look forward to. According to esu.edu, “The four-story, 109,233 square-foot building will be home to the University bookstore, a theater, food court, an art gallery, event space, meeting rooms, conference spaces and lounges.” There are also rumors that it will be home to one of students’ favorite food chains. With that being said, there is much to look forward to on campus next year. This building sounds like it will be a great spot to hangout, study, meet with friends or make new ones.

In town there also has been some changes. Stroudsburg has taken down Friendly’s and quickly built a new shopping center in its place. It will soon be turned into a drive-thru Starbucks and a Chipotle. No more driving to Easton for your favorite burrito or bowl. I am sure many students will find this a great spot for lunch, dinner or late-night cravings.

The Starbucks drive-thru will allow for quick coffee runs or an early morning breakfast. Something within walking distance or a quick drive will bring some life and full bellies to town.

Rumors of another addition to both town and campus is by the Innovation Center. There has been word that a Sheetz will be built within the next year. The Sheetz and Wawa battle will continue at an even closer range now. Depending on where you are from, we each have our favorites.

With all the new additions, students will be able to enjoy more options. Tell your friends to get excited and keep a look out for the opening of all the new places.
