Calling all fans of horror and thrillers! “Joker: Folie à Deux” and “Terrifier 3” are out and have created much buzz!
Although the two films are very different in terms of genre, they both have
something in common: unforeseen twists. The sequel to 2019’s “Joker” takes an unexpected turn, blending psychological drama with vocal musical touches. “Terrifier 3” may just live up to its reputation within the community of horror enthusiasts, but it pushes the limits of the series with
gruesome scenes of gore, violence and some sex.
“Joker: Folie à Deux” stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. The movie explores the dangerous relationship between Joker and Harley Quinn. One aspect of the film that stands out significantly is its use of musical numbers. While the original “Joker” was
not a musical, this movie uses the musical numbers to represent the mental state of both Joker and Harley Quinn.
Both characters end up going off the deep end into madness, and so begins the musical numbers that become increasingly chaotic reflecting their psychological states.
“Terrifier 3” is the third movie in the “Terrifier” series. This movie is a continuation that follows the crimes of Art the Clown. Art the Clown is back and on a whole different level of gruesome violence.
“Terrifier 2” left its mark after viewers reported cases of people in the audience fainting, vomiting and running out. For fans of extreme horror, “Terrifier 3” provides shocking, over-the-top gore and violence that surpasses previous films. Art the Clown continues to be
seriously disturbed, and refuses to compromise in his terror and brutality.
The film opens with Art being resurrected (his supernatural presence is hinted at throughout the film). He then sets his sights on a group of teenagers living in a small town but they are unprepared for the his
brutal attacks.
“Terrifier 3” will most likely have its supporters however, some might suggest the films gore and violence crosses the line. It is easy to go from horror to tasteless shock value in seconds. There is a chance the extreme gore may scare away casual viewers that are not major horror fans.
“Joker: Folie à Deux” can be seen as an artistic risk. One that has the potential to discomfort viewers expecting a traditional follow-up to the original. “Terrifier 3,” on the other hand, has decided to fully commit to its fanbase. Many of its gore loving fans will enjoy the violence but
what about those who are casually viewing the horror film?
The extreme violence does have the potential to gain criticism for its lack of wider appeal. Whether its the unique use change of turning the Joker into a musical or the excessive gore of “Terrifier 3,” these films are designed to
leave an impact. Every viewer is given the chance to walk away with a different opinion on the quality of each film
