A 17-year-old juvenile died of a gunshot wound last Saturday night at Wawa on West Main Street in Stroudsburg, according to a statement posted on Facebook by Stroud Area Regional Police Department (SARPD).
Multiple 911 calls had come through at 8:20 p.m. about a gun shot being fired at the Wawa, with a young man reportedly shot in the neck, according to the post.
When the officers had arrived to the scene they performed life-saving measures until EMS services arrived. The young man was transported to a local hospital where he died.
SARPD reported that the incident had started off as a verbal altercation that turned physical. The incident involved multiple individuals in the store, according to police.
During the fight another man allegedly showed a handgun and fired a single shot. He then reportedly fled the scene.
SARPD stated that it believes that this is an isolated incident and the investigation is still ongoing.
