Edmoh Sheriff of Allentown, Pa. will face Magisterial Court for the alleged rape of an eighteen-year-old ESU student in her room in Lenape Hall on Sept. 12. The hearing will be held next Tuesday, Sept. 29.
According to a criminal complaint, Pennsylvania State Police were notified Sept. 12 of a reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred in the student’s dorm room at about 5 a.m. The woman later reported the incident to staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, where a state trooper interviewed her.
Police later identified Sheriff through information obtained during their investigation. The complaint also states that investigators conducted an authorized phone call between the woman and Sheriff on Sept. 13, during which police allege that Sheriff acknowledged her account of the incident.
Sheriff was charged with the sexual assault of a student last Saturday, September 12th. His charges are as follows:
- Rape forcible compulsion
- Sexual assault
- Aggravated Indecent assault without consent
- Aggravated indecent assault – forcible compulsion
- Indecent assault without consent of other
- Harassment – Subject other to physical contact
The university declined to provide a statement about the alleged assault. Pennsylvania State Police are handling the investigation.
