East Stroudsburg University Police have released the university’s annual Clery Report, which provides an analysis of crime and campus safety statistics for the entirety of 2025.

The broad scope of the reports shows that crime is on the rise, with 172 total reported crimes in 2025, and 110 total reported crimes in 2024. This marks a 56% increase in crime, which is the largest increase seen since 2022 to 2023, when there was a 37% increase.

However, most of these were liquor, drug and other offenses, that make up 117 of 172 reported crimes.

There were three cases of rape and one case of statutory rape in the last year’s report. This is up one reported case from last year. Cases of fondling have also seen an increase to eight, which is double from the last report.

Several other crimes also increased in 2025 compared with 2024, according to the report:

  • Aggravated assault increased from one reported offense to two.
  • Auto theft increased from zero reported offenses to one.
  • Stalking increased from three reported offenses to four.
  • Burglary increased from zero reported offenses to one.
  • Theft increased from 20 reported offenses to 27.
  • Fraud increased from one reported offense to two.

While other offenses decreased in 2025 compared with 2024, according to the report:

The Clery Report also provides fire statistics for 2025, including the causes of fires and fire alarm activations throughout the year. Last year there were only two instances where the fire department needed to respond. With one being due to a burning trash can in Sycamore and the other being due to burnt HVAC motor in the University Ridge Buildings five and six.

All other alarms were due to smaller issues like burnt food, dust, shower steam, curling irons and false alarms.
