Transferring to a new university can be exciting and overwhelming. Transfer Student Day, an event designed to make the transition to the university easier and provide students with information they need to succeed, can take some of the pressure off a new student.

This event gives potential and admitted students an opportunity to explore the campus and learn about ESU’s academic programs. One of the main features of Transfer Day is the opportunity for students to review their transfer credit evaluation. This process helps the student understand which credits from their previous college will count toward a ESU degree.

Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the campus, along with the dorms and apartments. They also get a free lunch at the dining hall Dansbury Commons.

“When I attended, I was greeted warmly by the transfer center and had all my questions answered. It was also nice to see all the students interacting with each other and this campus already looks more inviting than my last school,” stated by Charleigh Cook, sophomore transfer student.

East Stroudsburg University welcomes about 400 transfer students each year, according to ESU Smart Catalog Nationwide, and approximately 1.2 million students transfer colleges each fall, according to National Center of Educational Services. Students transfer for various reasons, including financial concerns, academic opportunities and personal circumstances. However, adjusting to a new university can present challenges, such as transferring credits, meeting new people and becoming involved on campus.

Financial aid is another topic covered throughout the event. Faculty and staff answer questions and provide guidance. Students can learn about the responsibilities while attending or possible funding options.

ESU offers scholarships. Depending on someone’s GPA the school will give money renewing every year making the price more affordable.

“When I first had a conversation about how much it will cost, I was shocked to see it was almost 10 grand cheaper for me to transfer here and that’s all I needed to hear,” stated Frankie Pedone, a sophomore transfer student.

Transfer Day demonstrates the importance of providing transfer students with resources and support as the continue their education. By offering all the amenities it helps future students achieving their educational goals and take the next step toward completing their degrees.
