Tonight is the night to spread your musical wings and show what you got during the Open Mic Night in Lower Dansbury Commons from 9 PM to midnight.
Students are getting ready for the event by practicing songs and praying to the “rock gods.”
“We pray to the rock gods before every performance. It helps us stay calm and focused,” said Eric Kump, rhythm guitarist of the band Northern Revival.
Northern Revival will be performing tonight along with many other acts. Check out Northern Revival’s Facebook page for songs, show updates, and member information.
Take a break from cracking open the books or whatever activity you usually partake in and check out Open Mic.
“I am looking forward to seeing the different acts that come out. Its something different to do on a Friday night,” said freshman, Sabrina Makkas.
Other than singing, you can showcase your talents with personal or published poetry. Students can also perform any genre of music they choose, whether R&B, pop, country, or rap.
Event organizer, Michelle Canepa, wants everyone to “come to Dansbury and ‘open up’ with open mic night.” Canepa also goes on to say that “it’s an awesome event from 9 PM to 12 AM, and it can be singing, dancing, instruments, spoken word, anything at all. The first 10 people to sign up at the ticket sales desk and perform on Friday get $10 on their eCard.”
So not only do you get to perform your favorite song or poem, you can also score a free meal.
“This is my first Open Mic at ESU and my band I are excited to perform. We put it on our Facebook to promote it, so we hope it’s a great turnout,” continued Kump.
Don’t forget to check out Open Mic Night tonight from 9 PM to midnight in Lower Dansbury.
