Strong performances from the Women’s Swimming team powered ESU to a second place finish at the Diamond City Invitational held at the Wyoming Catholic Youth Center at Wilkes-Barre on Nov. 18-19.

The Warriors finished the meet with 481.5 points, which was just 1.5 points ahead of third place Misericordia University. The Scranton University Royals won the tournament with 679.5 points.

ESU was led by senior Briana Hall, who won two events. Hall out-touched everyone in the 50-yard free in a winning time of 24.95 seconds.

Hall also won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.64. In addition, she finished third in the 100-yard free.

Along with her teammates, Hall helped ESU finish runner-up in the 200-yard free relay, 400-yard medley relay and 400-yard free relay.

Senior Kate Zimmerman finished runner-up in the 400-yard IM. She also finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Sophomore Olivia Lukshides was the runner-up in the 100-yard free.

The freshmen also posted strong performances. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Elizabeth Young and Julia Harnish finished 0.04 second apart from each other in 11th and 12th places respectively.

The Warriors return to the pool for the three-day TCNJ (The College of New Jersey) Invitational beginning tomorrow.
